About SPoT
SPoT Den Haag is een podium voor vakspecialisten die uitsluitend in opdracht werken.
De werkwijze is ontleend aan Bas van Pelt, binnenhuisarchitect en ontwerper, honderd jaar geleden op dit adres.

Vanaf juni 2026 tonen alumni vakspecialisten hun afstudeerprojecten in de Lange Houtstraat 15B. De potentiële opdrachtgever komt langs, ziet het object en ontmoet de maker. Samen bepalen ze materiaal, maat en uitvoering. Het object wordt gemaakt — in opdracht, één keer, een unicum.
Dit is hoe binnenhuisarchitect Bas van Pelt (1900–1945) werkte. Zijn werkwijze bepaalt hoe SPoT vandaag functioneert. In 1931 opende hij zijn podium MY HOME in Den Haag. Hij ontwierp meubels, stoffen, keramiek, lampen en vloeren. Werkte samen met architecten, grafisch ontwerpers, keramisten, meubelmakers en wevers. Bij het RKD als ontwerper/interieurarchitect opgenomen als van belang voor het Nederlands cultureel erfgoed.
Zijn principe was compromisloos.
Geen voorraad. Geen massaproductie. Een unicum als uitgangspunt, naar wens aanpasbaar in kleur, materiaal en formaat. Het object wordt geboren bij een opdracht. Vakspecialist en opdrachtgever werken met elkaar naar een topresultaat, een erfstuk voor later.
Al in 1925 formuleerde Van Pelt dit als MY HOME concept. Een eeuw later is het principe nog jong, maar zeldzaam. SPoT, Special Product on Time, houdt het in leven. Generaties lang, niet uit eerbetoon. Een levend principe, kunstnijverheid, lang leve het vakspecialisme.

From June 2026, alumni who are experts in their field will be exhibiting their graduation projects at Lange Houtstraat 15B. Potential clients will visit, view the piece and meet the creator. Together, they will decide on the materials, dimensions and design. The object will be made — to order, as a one-off, a unique piece.
This is how interior designer Bas van Pelt (1900–1945) worked. He designed furniture, fabrics, ceramics, lamps and flooring. His working method determines how SPoT operates today. In 1931, he opened his showroom 'MY HOME' in The Hague. Van Pelt collaborated with architects, graphic designers, ceramists, furniture makers and weavers. Listed in the RKD as a designer/interior architect of significance to Dutch cultural heritage. -
His principle was uncompromising. No stock. No mass production. A unique piece as the starting point, adaptable in colour, material and size to suit the client’s wishes. The object is born from a commission. Specialist and client work together towards a top-quality result, a heirloom for the future.
As early as 1925, Van Pelt formulated this as the MY HOME concept. A century later, the principle is still young, but rare. SPoT, Special Product on Time, keeps it alive. For generations, not out of homage. A living principle, applied arts, long live craftsmanship.

Karel Bodegom binnenhuisarchitect/ontwerper en oprichter van SPoT. Vanuit zijn praktijk aan de Lange Houtstraat 15B in Den Haag zet hij de principes van Bas van Pelt voort: werken in opdracht, direct contact tussen maker en opdrachtgever, en de overtuiging dat vakmanschap een intellectuele daad is.

Karel Bodegom is an interior architect and founder of SPoT. From his practice at Lange Houtstraat 15B in The Hague, he continues the principles of Bas van Pelt: working to order, direct contact between maker and commissioner, and the conviction that craftsmanship is an intellectual act.
